The technology in todays head lamps is phenomenal; every outdoors enthusiast should have one in their pack. If you do purchase one, do your research and don't skimp on price. In todays market you get what you pay for......I personally use a 3 light unit and find it more than adequate. One of the best things about headlamps is the ability to function hands free..walking working, reading maps, fishing, hunting, hiking...........they're awesome

I've been thinking about getting one of these for a few weeks now. Any brands you recommend?
I have a Petzl two light (Tikkina) and find it is more than adequate to light my way, shines a good twenty metres in front of you. I also have a Petzl three light....awesome, You can usually find one for around $30 or maybe less. Check out a good Sporting Goods store that carries hiking and skiing equipment. Good luck, they truly are amazing,light weight, easy to store in a pocket or pack. Take extra batteries.
